The name Bekah gave our 2 day getaway. I had mentioned to her that I wanted to have a little getaway where we just have fun, get dressed up, and eat nice food. Not to my disappointment she already had a name and from that moment on we planned the “Boujee Birthday Bash.” I know I had mentioned before how blessed I am to have such an amazing friend and sister like her in my life.
Finally after waiting what seemed like months (really a few weeks) the day had come. As usual it was 9:30 am on Monday and Bekah was going to pick me up around 11/ 12. Was I still laying in bed needing to shower and get ready? Yes. Did I pack? No. Did I get up knowing that I had an hour till Bekah was coming? No. I don’t know about you but I love to live on the edge… of panic that is because I literally had half an hour to pack and finish getting ready. Finally, I heard my phone go off and I knew that it was Bekah outside waiting for me. What I wasn’t prepared for was what was going to be waiting for me in her car. Would you believe this beautiful human being prepared a surprise for me not even within 5 minutes of us being together. I mentioned to her as she came to greet me outside that I hadn’t eaten yet and if possible would like to stop by Dunkins to grab something. I open her door and what do I see? She had decorated the passenger seat with a gift and a sign that read “Reserved for Janny Marie the Birthday Queen” and waiting next it was my Iced Coffee exactly how I like it and Munchkins. In the back she had a whole basket filled with snacks that she knew I’d love, and with that we were on our way to the Coonamessett Inn.
The drive up? Down? I don’t know haha but the drive there was so pretty! Seeing the leaves finally changing from green to reds, browns, yellows and oranges is honestly one of my favorite parts of Fall. Did I mention Fall is my favorite season and right after Christmas. As we got nearer to the Inn we stopped to get something to eat and Bekah asked me if I wanted to do anything while we waited because check in was at 4pm. I mentioned that as I was looking up the Inn I noticed that there was a lighthouse nearby and that since we had the time I would like to see it. I knew that it would be a sight to see but boy was that an understatement! You would think that I would remember that lighthouses are always near water and if you guys haven’t noticed by now I absolutely love being near the water. So of course the closer we got the more excited I became, I didn’t know where to look. The minute Bekah parked the car I already had my seatbelt off and the door open. I was not prepared for the warmth and salty breeze that I felt. Salty air and the sound of waves crashing there’s really nothing that compares to it. I quickly took my phone out to document absolutely everything and anything I could, the lighthouse, the water, the houses, everything.
We ended up spending quite a bit of time at the lighthouse soaking everything in and enjoying every minute of it. We took turns taking pictures and decided that it was finally time to go check in and see where we were staying for the night. When we got to the Inn I knew right away that the tiktok and website pictures didn’t do it justice. It was even more breathtaking than I thought it would be. I didn’t realize that it was going to be like a little apartment, I guess my mind thought it would be more like a hotel room because I was so used to staying in hotels but I was anything but disappointed! As soon as I walked in and saw how big the living room was and the mirror I was in love. The natural tones of greys and beige of the interior were honestly so aesthetically pleasing that I was already sad that I’d have to leave the next day. Bekah and I decorated for the night photoshoot, sang along with some of our favorite songs and then got ready for our fancy night out in the town. I already wrote a blog on our night “Fancy Night Out” so if you’d like you can read that one after this one to kind of follow the events chronologically. After we got back we showered and got ready for our “Slumber party/ Birthday party/ Spa night” photoshoot. Lots of laughing and might I add when we woke up our faces were glowing! As our Monday night was coming to an end and we reflected on our day, Bekah reminded me that I hadn’t opened her gift for me. I ran and got it and as I opened it I noticed a postcard with a shark on it. I yelled “Are we going to the Aquarium?!” She said no and I continued to read, and the postcard talked about a hammerhead shark called Maverick and how I can track his whereabouts. The postcard also said “Saving the Blue” and I forgot to mention that inside was a bracelet. It’s a white and grey marbled bracelet with spheres and a small grey shark. So basically my bestie got me a Shark that I can track and I honestly don’t know what can compare.
We talked for a few minutes and watched a hallmark movie but honestly being almost 29 is getting the best of me because I was ready to just fall asleep. I will be posting another blog titled “Chasing the Sunrise” that you can read after “Fancy night out” to see what we did at 6 in the morning on Tuesday. Following “Chasing after a Sunrise” where we did in fact chase a sunrise on the beach. After watching the sunrise on the beach it was almost 7:30 and we decided to go to a french bakery nearby that was rated 5 stars. When I tell you guys that the only trouble I had with that bakery was figuring out what to order. There were so many different pastries, tarts, custards and the wall behind the counter was filled with freshly baked loaves of bread. I ended up getting a fruit tart and a croissant filled with apple compote (to die for really) and we headed back to the Inn after stopping for some Dunkin ofcourse. We had breakfast and rested for an hour or two seeing that we didn’t have to leave till 11am. After resting we began to clean up and get ready for the rest of our day. I know I keep mentioning how grateful I am for Bekah since this trip was just amazing but not only for her company for all the help she gave me in taking pictures, videos, and figuring out how I should make a video announcing my blog. We had to stop for clam chowder for Bekah since we were by the ocean and I had to have Cape Cod Chips from Cape Cod and then we were on our way home. Half an hour in we stopped by a Haitian Restaurant because there aren’t any near where Bekah lives and she was really craving it.
As I got home and tried to recall everything I did in those 2 days all I could think about was how I wished the getaway was longer.
For those of you with loved ones or best friends I encourage you to getaway even for a day or two and explore the area you are staying in and just go on an adventure. You never know what you’ll get to experience and with that I bid farewell, until our next adventure.
Love,
Janny Mari
